SecureWave Gains DIPCOG Approval for Sanctuary Products

Ministry of Defence Forum gives official approval on end point security products

London, UK, Oct. 18, 2005

Following closely on the announcement that its IT security products were the first to gain the Government's Central Sponsor for Information Assurance Claims Tested Mark (CCTM). SecureWave, a leader in endpoint security software, today announced that it has received DIPCOG approval for its Sanctuary Device Control and Sanctuary products. The Defence Infosec Product Co operation Group (DIPCOG) is an MoD forum, which also provides an interface between the MoD and vendors of IT security products and services.

SecureWave has received approval for its Sanctuary Device Control product to be included in the Security Section of the MoD's DCSA ICS Catalolgue. This product enforces policy on the use of removable storage media, such as USB memory sticks and iPods, by only allowing specifically authorised devices to connect to machines at specified times. Where use is permitted, Device Shadowing, enables companies to create an audit trail of all data downloaded to that device. The DIPCOG has also approved Sanctuary, a software product that secures IT networks by only permitting specifically authorised files and applications to execute on company desktops, laptops and servers. This enforces IT policy by only allowing authorised software to be used and prevents any malware such as spyware, or Trojan files from running on the corporate network.

DIPCOG holds regular events enabling vendors to meet with Government Information Assurance policy makers and practitioners and to provide technical briefings to government representatives responsible for advising on InfoSec issues and requirements. At these meetings, the MoD also advises security product vendors on current strategy, policy and requirements. The events are held free of charge for anyone with responsibility for and active involvement in information security and Information Assurance work, such as IT Security Officers, System Architects and IT Procurement Officers.

Louis Oley, UK managing director of SecureWave, a regular participant in the DIPCOG events commented, "We are delighted to receive DIPCOG approval for SecureWave Sanctuary products. This is an excellent initiative to ensure that government policy makers and those with active involvement in IA decision making are able to maintain links with the IT security industry so both sides are kept informed of current issues, solutions and best practice in infosecurity."
