SecureWave Garners Industry Recognition as EndPoint Security Innovator

SecureWave's Disruptive Approach to Endpoint Security Earns Red Herring Top 100 Innovator Award and Invitation to Present at Forrester's Emerging Technology Showcase.

Durham, N.C., Dec. 7, 2004

SecureWave, a leader in endpoint security software, today announced the company has been selected as a Top 100 Innovator by Red Herring and has been invited to present at Forrester's Emerging Technology Showcase (ETS). The two prestigious honors illustrate SecureWave's growing profile as an endpoint security innovator and cap off an extremely successful year for the company.

"The Red Herring Top 100 Innovator award and Forrester ETS invitation validate SecureWave as an emerging endpoint security leader," said Bob Johnson, CEO of SecureWave. "The classical approach to information security is to develop and introduce solutions that fit neatly into technology category 'boxes'. This has affected much of the latest innovations in information security by limiting advances to low-level technology. Innovation is about thinking outside the box. SecureWave began its quest by taking a fresh look at how we could solve today's most pressing endpoint security problems. Our market acceptance and recognition through this award confirm to us that the market is ready for a change in how it thinks about information security."

The Red Herring Top 100 Innovators is a list of 100 public and private companies that have made significant breakthroughs in technology, financing, marketing, sales, service, leadership and business strategy. Red Herring's editorial staff evaluated over 1200 submissions from 900 companies. The editors used a careful analysis of financial data as well as subjective criteria, including quality of management, execution of strategy and dedication to research and development. The companies on the Top 100 list will present their business models and technologies at the Red Herring Fall 2004 conference, December 6-8, 2004 in Monterey, Calif.

"Selection for the Innovation 100 puts a company in an elite group. The editors worked hard to identify the companies who will benefit from the important technology trends in the coming year," said Joel Dreyfuss, editor-in-chief of Red Herring.

The Forrester ETS is a platform for companies to demonstrate alternative technologies that provide solutions to current business needs. Through a series of live presentations, critical product evaluations and analyst debates, Forrester identifies best-of-breed solutions that will offer future competitive advantages.

The ETS will be held December 8-10, 2004 in Scottsdale, Ariz. SecureWave will present as part of the Security TechnoVista, which will also feature Adobe Systems, Datanautics, Skybox Security and Tumbleweed.

SecureWave Sanctuary(TM) stops all forms of malicious code - including 'zero-day' threats - and controls the use of any portable device. Instead of utilizing technology that only blocks known threats, SecureWave uses a "whitelist" approach that focuses on a single list of allowed devices and actions, denying access to any device or application that is not on the approved list. With Sanctuary, administrators are free from maintaining blacklists of devices, testing and deploying every software patch, updating threat signatures and frantically reacting to viruses.
