The Lumension Endpoint Management and Security Suite (L.E.M.S.S) Application Server accesses the web to download content or components critical to the functionality of L.E.M.S.S., and include platform components or 3rd party vendor content. L.E.M.S.S. administrators need to notify their firewall personnel that new URLs will need to be allowed to pass through the firewall.
All L.E.M.S.S. Application Server installations should have access to the following locations:
cdn.securegss.net - Used to download Platform Modules by Installation Manager
cache.patchlinksecure.net - Used to download Platform Modules by Installation Manager
cache.lumension.com - Used to download binaries stored on Lumension GSS. Resolves to Akamai Cloud
L.E.M.S.S. Servers with the Lumension Patch and Remediation module need access to the following locations in order to download remediation binary content:
go.microsoft.com -- CAB file used for Native Scan.
Novell 10 and 11
For more information on Lumension Patch and Remediation and access to vendor locations for remediation binaries, see KB 539.
For additional information on firewall configurations for Microsoft Windows content, review the article on Microsoft’s TechNet Library: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc708605.aspx
In the future, additional URLs may be required, depending on the content sources that you are interested in receiving. An important consideration to remember is that these URLs should be specified as is and the use of IP address equivalents is discouraged since IP addresses frequently change in DNS round-robin scenarios, etc.
