This article should help administrators procure the hardware and software requirements for Lumension Endpoint Management and Security Suite (LEMSS). This article also takes under consideration room for growth as additional product modules are added to the suite.

NOTE:  These recommendations are for the 7.0 version of LEMSS ONLY.  The recommendations have changed for versions of LEMSS 7.1 and higher.  Please see KB 787 - L.E.M.S.S.: Patch and Remediation Hardware Sizing and Recommended Application Defaults for these  recommendations.

LEMSS Components Lumension EMSS contains of the following components:

  • LEMSS Application Server – Responsible for Website, Replication Services, and Endpoint Distribution Services
  • LEMSS Database Server – Responsible for SQL Database and Stored Procedures Recommended LEMSS Server Configuration LEMSS Application and Database Server (All components on a single server)

Disk Considerations To maximize read and write performance, Lumension recommends that SQL Server data files (.mdf) and transitions logs (.ldf) be placed on a separate disk spindles.  Place log files on RAID 1+0 (or RAID 1) disks for better performance and hardware failure.
